Ever heard of Pine Bluffs, Wyoming? Well I hadn't until I met Josh. Josh's family moved to Pine Bluffs when he was 11 and he lived there until he graduated high school and moved up to Idaho for college. Josh was really excited to get to show me around the town
where he grew up!
The Welcome Sign-right behind it are the bluffs, Josh said he used to climb them and look out over the whole town
The house that Josh grew up in. He said it looks pretty much the same :)
The new high school-it was built when Josh was a Junior so he got to finish the last two years in the new building
The old high school where he was as a Freshman and Sophomore
The welcome to Wyoming sign-Josh said he used to "drag race" on the road next to this sign...but the car he drove could only go 45 so he would always get a head start :)
The Shrine! Josh said he was always confused why they had this giant shrine since they didn't have a big Catholic population in their town of 1,000
After we drove around Pine Bluffs, he took me to a little restaurant called Uncle Fred's and we had the breadsticks that he used to get. They were ok...
Next we drove to a town called Carpenter where Josh's best friend Jeremy lived. He still lived in the same house and so it was fun for me to see where Josh spent alot of his time hanging out. Jeremy is a farmer and he has several field of wheat that are growing around their home. It was so amazing to me to be in the middle of a bunch of fields where I couldn't see anything but wheat. Beautiful!
Jeremy is a big fan of Dr. Pepper so he had one pretty much everytime I was looking at him. It's nice to meet another fan! The night that we stayed with him, we drove into Cheyenne and ate at a Mongollian Grill place and then the boys drove me around showing me their old stomping grounds. We also met up with Josh's friend Brett Gadbury and his wife (no picture, I totally forgot!) and visited with them for awhile.
Josh and Sister Mikesell
The next morning before we headed out for Jackson Hole, Jeremy and his Mom made us a tasty breakfast. I got the smiley face pancake! Thanks Jeremy and Sister Mikesell for letting us visit. It was quite the adventure getting to see the places Josh grew up. Next post: Jackson Hole, Yellowstone & Old Faithful!
