The giant pile of boxes. Luckily nothing was broken in the move despite moving things down our stairs in Peoria and up the stairs in Tucson.
Before we moved, I went and visited my Dad Scott and his family in Colorado. I stayed with my Aunt Callee. She is so awesome. I really enjoyed getting to know her more. Scott was busy going to treatments and chemotherapy but we still had time together in the evenings. Some of the highlights of the trip were a visit to this cute little park that had a train and a petting zoo. I was worried about how Bennett would do with petting the animals (he did fine except for when he put his hands in his mouth after petting the goat, ew!) and if he would be scared on the train going through the tunnel (because he doesn't like enclosed spaces, like elevators and shuttles-which I learned in the CO airport) but he liked it and even cooperated taking a picture with the engineer.
Choo-Choo!!!
Our trip to the zoo. There were lots of cool exhibits and we could see the animals really well. Here I am with my lovely aunts! Love you!
Another fun thing that we did was to have a fancy tea party. I felt so privileged to get to have "tea" because it is a fun tradition that my aunts Callee and Chris like to do. We had little sandwiches and desserts and I tried a little herbal tea and then Callee got me some Dr. Pepper to drink out of my tea cup since I am not really a fan of tea. :)
We drove up into the mountains for a picnic next to a little creek, where Scott tried to fish for a bit and we ate and ate and ate lots of food. I gained 5 pounds in CO. :)
Despite feeling a little yucky here and there, it was a great trip and I am so grateful I got to spend that week with Scott and the rest of the clan, especially since Scott passed away last weekend. One thing I didn't get pictures of but that I want to remember is what we did on Father's Day (I know, I totally spaced it when scheduling the trip and it was over Josh's First Father's Day, don't worry we skyped and I left him some presents). Scott and I went to the grocery store and got some yummy food including stuff to make guacamole, licorice, shrimp cocktail (for Scott, I don't like cold shrimp), potato skins and key lime pie. Then we went back to Callee's house and watched some Redbox movies while we pigged out. It was really nice to just relax. Everyone else went to the reservoir but Scott was wiped out from his treatments and I was having a rough time with cramps so I didn't mind staying back and watching movies. The trip was fun but I was glad to come home to Josh since we had never been apart for a whole week before and traveling with Bennett was kind of stressful. He slept on the flight out there but then was awake the whole flight back. A sweet couple sitting next to me on the flight home was talking to Bennett and playing with him so I could have a break from his wiggles. Glad I went and look forward to visiting my CO family again in the future.
